Thanks for visiting my newly revised site. Each gallery is intended to be a mixture of the styles of photography I often play with; as opposed to definitive divisions of theme and genre. Each day brings different seasons, subject matter, methods, tools and techniques and thus a vast, wide open portfolio. I like seeing the extreme conceptual contrasts when clicking through my imagery. While you could easily divide my work into categories, I think it is more compelling to view shots of rural decay and rust directly following a serene landscape, or a minimal abstraction. Ian Johnson has been studying Photography since his days at The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. He graduated with honors in 1997 from Skidmore College where he majored in Studio Art and Art History with an emphasis in Photography and Printmaking.
In September of 2004, Ian started working with Jamie Collins Photography in Fairfield County. He worked as a head photographer, shooting high end weddings and family portraiture. He was also the studio's primary retoucher, album designer and slideshow developer. He has become one of the premier Photoshop technicians in the state and was recognized by the Knot Magazine as one of the best photographers in the Connecticut in 2007. Since March of 2008 Ian has formed his own photography business based in the Northwest Corner of Connecticut and services all of New England, New York and beyond.
